Can anyone here give me advise on owning a lawn service?

im plaining on starting one, any advise will be greatly appreciated thanksCan anyone here give me advise on owning a lawn service?
Please contact your state office regarding business licenses. You will need to also be bonded and insured. Are you planning on starting this and working by yourself? You will also need to look into all aspects of self-employment. Medical insurance, taxes, etc.

The cost for business cards, lawn care equpment: Lawn mower (two in case one flubs up on a job), weed whacker, garden gloves, rakes, etc.

How much knowledge do you already have regarding lawn care? . Are you talking just mowing the lawn, or other garden care as well? You may need more knowledge on trees, bushes, flowers-if you deal with private homes-residences will want to ask you questions about their yards, etc.

If it's just cut the grass, maybe make up some flyers when you are ready to go into business, to hand out to apt. mgr., private homes, grocery store bulletin boards, etc. Then, there is the consideration of ads in the local phone book, the cost of advertising, etc. Then, what if your business grows large enough to need co-workers to hire? Benefits for them, as well as for yourself.

And, you would need to either set a price, regardless of the job, or bid-but please don't underbid a job, or over bid a job.

Lots to think about, eh?

I hope this is a help to you. Also, you might want to contact, yes, the IRS-to get helpful information on self-employment.

Take care.
