Aluminium Box body van any advise on painting it ie type of paint to use primer remove all old paint or sand?

downAluminium Box body van any advise on painting it ie type of paint to use primer remove all old paint or sand?
Hi,

Removing the paint or not will depend on the state of it.

If it's in good condition the first thing to know is what kind of paint it is. Otherwise other stuff going on top may wrinkle it.

You'll also have to use a primer according to the paint you're going to use - again taking into account the paint already there. Mind that although one usually cannot use acrylic (solvent based) over synthetic, there are surfaces who permit an isolation of the synthetic to receive acrylics or cellulosics.

Anyway, sand the surface with a P600, for insteance, the degrease it. Apply the primer. The apply the paint .

It is important to respect the time between layers otherwise the solvent between layers won't evaporate (flash off) and you'll have problems. Either soon or later.

Now, if the paint is in bad condition, sand it down to the alluminium.

Your market is different from the market here in Portugal, so maybe you'll find a paint that can be used directly on alluminium (you may check Krilon/Krillon (?) )

Usually when painting on alluminium or zinc one uses a fosfatizing primer (2 components) or sometimes a Washprimer (2 components). These are applied with two VERY THIN coats. Then one can apply a regular primer.

Another primer that can be used on alluminium is an epoxy one (Ferrari's boddy is alluminium and uses an epoxy one if I'm not mistaken).

And that's all.

If you have any doubt, just e-mail me.

Take care,

Jos茅

ah just put a great big sticker over the lot of it
I'd use quick dry acrylic spray unless you have access to professional equipment and a spray booth, (I'll assume you havent otherwise you wouldn't be asking on here) most pros would use two pack but it gives off toxic fumes so dont go up that route. high build primer will help ( but costly ) unless the aluminium has some oxidisation, I'd just flat off (take the shine off the existing paint) prime and spray over the top. If it has then treat the localised areas with 40grit emery cloth then a lighter grade to finish off, high build prime and do the same for the rest.

Im assuming this is a commercial grade paint job not a show winning custom finish you are after.

Hope this helps

My landlord have not returned security deposit? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?

She is the most flip flop woman I have ever met. She is all about money. I moved out on Dec 12. I have not received anything from her.

Actually, I don't really want the money, but I just HATE to let her take advantage from me and others.

Thank youMy landlord have not returned security deposit? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?
Many landlords do this. They know that you will have to take them to small claims court and they hang on to the cash. It costs 65 dollars to file a claim. Send her a registered letter and tell her that it is illegal to with hold the security dep. Tell her you will pick it up from her. If she doesn't comply then take her to court. It is worth go through the process in order to build your confidence in the system and to use this avenue in the future if you need to.My landlord have not returned security deposit? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?
You should want the money if you are entitled to it, take it back. Take her to the tenancy tribunal, they will help you get the money back. good luck
leagally they have 30 days to return your deposit...All of it, if they keep any, you need to be notified in writing how much was kep and for what reason. Send her a certified letter letting her know that you know the laws and request (demand) your money be returned with 7 days, if not you will see them in small claims court, where you could be awarded triple damages for their failure of following the law.
Why hasn't she returned it? Was the house left in a mess? If not then just do whta i did when it happened to me.

I sent my landlord a letter advising if i didnt have the money returned within 7 working days i would be taking legal action on the matter.

I spoke to the citizens advice who told me i had to do this first and keep a copy of the letter i made and send the letter recorded delivery so she cant worm out of it by saying she hasnt got the letter.

I was lucky as when i sent this i got my money back.

The next thing to do if you dont get any joy is to visit a solicitor and ask for advice on what to do next, advice is free with some solicitors. They may advise you to get a formal letter from a solicitor which costs about 拢30 and it will say if she does not return the money they will look to take her to the small claims court.

Good luck, hope you get it back.
Without knowing what state you reside in, it's hard to give advice on what laws prevail reqarding security deposit. State laws can vary anywhere from 15 to 60 days, where some states, such as New York, have no set time..only ';reasonable';.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE ON DIETS? I AM TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT , AND HAVE TRYED EVERYTHING OUT THERE. ?

I AM NOT OVERWEIGHT ENOUGH FOR LAPBAND OR GASTRIC BYPASS.DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE ON DIETS? I AM TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT , AND HAVE TRYED EVERYTHING OUT THERE. ?
I was overweight enough for a gastric bypass and I lost the weight.

The problem is, when you say that you've tried everything out there, you probably mean you've tried all the fad diets. Not only do those not work, but they make things worse.

I was over 100lbs overweight and now I look great. If you're serious about wanting to lose, you can go ahead and email me (email is on my profile). Otherwise, I'm not wasting my time typing it here. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE ON DIETS? I AM TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT , AND HAVE TRYED EVERYTHING OUT THERE. ?
I can ';hear'; the frustration but don't give up! Keep trying and eventually, you'll be successful! Before I give you my diet advice, here's a motivational page that really helped me and hopefully will help you too!

Okay, back to the diet part, first of all, my best suggestion is to learn to eat healthy.

http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/eat-鈥?/a>

That means understand the food pyramid, the food groups, the recommended servings, etc. That is how you should eat for life! If you eat that way and have 3 small, healthy meals a day and 2 small, healthy snacks, you will lose weight. Each meal should be less than 400 calories and each snack should be about 100-150 calories. Eating highly nutritious foods is the key, so think in terms of lean protein, veggies, whole-grains, fruits, low-fat dairy, and heart-healthy oils.

The second option is to do a short-term ';drastic diet'; that is designed to last for 2 weeks max. This would take off the most weight rapidly. There are several on the site under ';Diet Plans'; but my favorite is the 5-4-3-2-1 diet.

http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/5-4-鈥?/a>

You get to pick what you eat, but you're going to want to pick highly nutritious foods to keep your metabolism working efficiently. Again, the ';eat healthy'; page can help you determine what highly nutritious foods are, if you need help with that. If you go on the short-term diet, then once it's over, follow the guidelines on the ';eat healthy'; page.

Make water your main source of hydration and save the sweet drinks (even diet) for special occasions. Eliminate as much salt and sugar from your diet as you can.

The biggest component to fast weight loss is going to be your workout. You will want to make sure you do a good cardio workout every day for weight loss (3 times a week is sufficient to maintain health). Activities that use the large leg muscles burn the most calories. These activities also tone the lower body quite effectively. Think in terms of

power walking, jogging, biking, skating, swimming laps, jumping rope, dancing, racquetball, and jumping jacks. To make sure that you're burning fat, you need to be sweating and huffing and puffing. In addition, do some good stretches and some strength training.

You'll find some really good information on the website, including about five pages of weight loss tips, printable weight loss journal pages, printable exercise log sheets, motivational ideas, healthy recipes, etc.

The good news is it is possible to lose weight. The bad news is it's gonna take some work. Forget surgeries or pills or what not. If you want to lose weight you will want to lose it long term right?

The only way is to follow a good diet program. Remember when you decide to lose weight you would want it long term so you have to make a lifestyle change. It's a lifestyle change. Think about that. Only if you're ready to commit to that then you can be successful. Determination and discipline is the key. Below is a good program that has worked for me personally. You can also check out my blog at

The website below will explain more on a good weight loss program.
www.webmd.com

This site has been a weight loss inspiration to me for 2 years. I have used their tips and taken their diet advice and I have kept the weight I lost off for a year. THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO SELL SOMETHING, they just have sensible advice and information on what ';healthy eating'; really means.
Ok one dont eat fast food. two eat as many fruits and veggies as you want but dont add to them with ranch dressing etc three you have to exercise at LEAST 3 days a week..dont eat after 7 pm make sure you eat breakfast (breakfast will get your metabolism going) stay away from food that has high fructose corn syrup, food that is chemically processed try to eat natural foods, eat lots of fish and chicken
All you have to do is to use up more calories than you take in. So, the more you eat the more you have to exercise. It really is that simple.

Forget all of these faddy diets - eat sensibly and take exercise - it really will work!

When do most people advise the best time to visit cayococo cuba our trip has just been cancelled ?

The best time would be when castro and castro have departed to stand trial for their crimes When do most people advise the best time to visit cayococo cuba our trip has just been cancelled ?
Your trip has just been cancelled because there has been a lot of damages throughout parts of Cuba. Cayo Coco is not part of the mainland and is connected via a causeway to Ciego de Avila. If there has been a need for repairs at hotels or roadways that would make travelling through Cuba difficult, then that could be the reason. It was a strange year for hurricanes and Cuba was hit badly this year.

I have just tried contacting friends that work at one of the resorts' offices in Cayo Coco as I have been having problems getting through on the phone with my friends there. Hopefully they will be able to communicate soon enough. Although I'm not too sure as there may be problems getting in to work right away.

Cuba is beautiful this time of year and most do not experience such severe weather. This has been unfortunate this year.

Hopefully this will not deter you from visiting Cuba after things clear up.

But one thing is that Cubans are resourceful and are quick to remedy the situations. Most likely the issue has been with flooding as the resorts in Cayo Coco/Guillermo are of course right on the ocean...but again, this isn't something that happens frequently if at all in that area.

nobody was hurt and there wasn't that much damage to the hotels...but water and amenities would be affected. When do most people advise the best time to visit cayococo cuba our trip has just been cancelled ?
June to November is the Hurricane season so times out of that season are OK. I have been in June, July, and September but I think we were just lucky.
February is the best time of year to go.. it is still hot but it is nowhere near hurricane season. Don't worry i have been there in Feb... u will luv.
The best time to visit cayo coco is after fidel is below ground. Luckily it should not take too long
When were you due to fly out? Im going on the 17th September, maybe mine has been cancelled to...
when were you due to go. We are due to fly out on the 29th Sept for our honeymoon and staying at the melia las dunas trying to find out if there is any damage done to the hotel.
In my opinion pretty well any time, this year just by the luck or the unluck of the draw it's been such an active hurricane season. On your other post I showed the site below.

I am looking to inport goods from hong kong can anyone advise me in customs and vat rules?

Electrical goodsI am looking to inport goods from hong kong can anyone advise me in customs and vat rules?
Look up the Hong Kong Government official web site for a detailed view:

I don't know what country you live in, but in the US there are companies called customs brokers who are specialists and expediters in importing goods. I'm sure there are similar companies in your country who would be the best people to contact for advice. Good luck.
No export tax or vat. In general, you need to pay a small fee for declaration of exporting. Fees various. For example, if you export by container, the fee is less than USD15. (This is not a tax, so it is not related to the value of the goods inside the container). So this fee is so small that you put it as part of the freight charge.
From HK to where? You'll pay no duties %26amp; taxes to get your goods out (only the shipping related charges) but you'll have to pay where you recieve the goods. SO, the question is what country are you importing to? Contact your local customs house with a pro-forma invoice listing the items you want to import and the costs fo the goods:so they can calculate your duties %26amp; taxes and moreover to see if they are legal to import!

  • Please can I get advise on primary school teaching?

I want to apply to uni to study primary school teaching next year. I have been trying to find out what I need to do and am finding the whole thing very confusing!

I want to study it as distance learning as I am 26 and need to work full time to pay rent etc. I wanted to do it through the Open Unversity but they don't offer that degree. Is there any way I can do it mostly from home? How does the whole process work? Please can someone help before I ull all my hair out!! ;-) Thanks! x xPlease can I get advise on primary school teaching?
    Hiyas!

The thing with primary school teaching, as I noticed some of the others have mentioned, is that it is very hands-on oriented. I know now a days you can take a good bulk of the classes online until you hit the point where you are focusing strictly on your major (Junior and Senior year).

I got through my degree (elementary ed) by pulling a lot of loans and scholarships. I lived off campus, paid rent + utilities and worked on campus part-time for extra income. It was a bumpy couple of years, but I made more in 1 year teaching to cover the 5 yrs of cost going to college, so it's worth it in the end.

Keep in mind with education, they will want you to do a lot of the stuff physically...like when you do your internships and field studies. If you wish to continue on in education after your undergrad, like I currently am, they really want to see how much actual experience you have...either from substituting, class requirements, student teaching, daycare help, etc. That might be hard for you to do with your current situation, but look at it as everything you do is resume worthy, and schools love seeing how much 'extra' you put in to get to where you are at.Please can I get advise on primary school teaching?
This kind of degree doesn't work with on-line or at home programs. It is very hands on and discussion oriented. In my experience I had to give lots of presentations, complete many group projects, and things that I NEEDED to be in a classroom setting for. Additionally, you have to do a lot of classroom observations and student teaching internships.
Well, here there is a program set up through the local community college that works with another university. The program is specifically for people in your situation. They have night classes and weekend classes. You should check with your surrounding schools to see if anything like this is available. The last semester is a practicum so you would have to do observations and student teaching in a school at that point.
First things first, you need to go to your local community college to see an academic adviser. Usually they know exactly wht classes u need to take on the campus and others which you can take on line. Now, the things that need to be taken in the campus are like: group related / interaction with kids/ observation/presentations, most of the time these classes are taught in the morning hours. Others such as english, math, etc can be taken on-line. But go and call your adacemic adviser at your local comm. college and set an appointment ASAP so that you know first hand wht subjects require wht type of enviroment for teaching. Best of Luck
