I want to go to Guilin, China from Hong Kong. Any advise?

I know how to get there and I already have a visa. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I also might want to go to Yangshuo while I am there. Is anyone willing to share any advise or experiences?I want to go to Guilin, China from Hong Kong. Any advise?
All the above advice is good about Yangshuo, it is in a beautiful part of China with great scenery. Yangshuo is very much a tourist town and you can get western food and see foreigners all over the town. The pleasure of Yangshuo is to get out of the town, so rent a bicycle and go out to the countryside.

When you get tired of Yangshuo, take a bus south to LiPu. LiPu is in the same beautiful landscape but it is Chinese. You will see no western faces here, no western food, no KFC or MacDonalds. Prices are cheaper and you can rent a bicycle and go out to the countryside where people will invite you to have lunch with them. The Golden Dragon hotel is excellent and cheap.I want to go to Guilin, China from Hong Kong. Any advise?
There is no point in going to Guilin without visiting Yangshuo. There isn't much to see in Guilin city. Get to Yangshuo. It is a bit touristy but the scenery is beautiful. Hire a bike and get out of town.

To get to Yangshuo head for Guilin Railway Station. Buses leave every few minutes. When you arrive in Yangshuo have a walk around there are hotels to suit every budget.
Guilin is ok for an afternoon, visit the Elephant Trunk, 7 Star Park and then move to Yangshuo, Spend a couple of days here, the minimum you should do is:

- raft on the Yulong river (near Moonhill), bring bicycle on the raft and cycle back

- Visit Xingping in the morning. Best to do is get a boat early morning (leave Yangshuo at 6, see website) and arrive at about 8 in Xingping, it's the best time of the day (forget the river cruise, this is MUCH better)

- see the Liu Sanjie Lightshow at night, I was reluctant the first time but it's worth every yuen,

- eat at Cloud 9 at least once

There's much more, see the website below. is a good guide.
I had stayed in Yangsuo around 4 months.

as you know,Yangsuo is very beautiful.

if you want a cheap trip,I tell you a way.

There are some English training schools in Yangsuo . if you could speak english , you could be a volunteer of one of school.

They will support you lunch %26amp; dinner %26amp; room. for interchanging

you have to join the english corner of the school to chat with some

english learners. if you wanted to know some chinese culture,I think that is helpful to you.

and there are few thieves in Yangsuo.

Take care of your purse.^_^

Fly there with Dragonair. They have the best service compared to other Chinese airlines.

Regarding Yangshuo, its a nice place, with many shops and a quite different aura compared to Guilin.
Take a flight from Hong Kong to Guilin, and then take a Li River Cruise to Yangshuo. It is the best way to enjoy the scenery of Yangshuo and Li River.

Here is the Guilin travel guide:

Good question. I'm actually gonna leave from Guilin/Yangshuo to Hong Kong (later this summer) and I plan to take a train because it's not that far. and it's cheap.
